BHTS Council Elections March 30th

BHTS Council Elections will be held March 30th:
Positions to be elected at this time for the 2016-2017 academic year:
– President
– Vice-President
– Up to three Members-at-Large:
    – one to serve as Treasurer
    – one to serve as student representative to the Faculty of Theology Committee
    – one to serve as Communications Officer/Secretary
For the positions of President and Vice-President: Rosemary Parker and Andrew Rampton have allowed their names to stand as Co-Presidents.
For the Members-at-Large: Ross Bliss, Stefan Nichol, Eric Prachar, Kerry Stover, and Jessica Vella have allowed their names to stand. Consequently, there will be an election for the three Members-at-Large positions.
The election will take place Wednesday, March 30th at approximately 1pm in the Great Hall. If you would like to vote but are unable to be present, please contact Gillian to make arrangements. Gillian will be on campus Tuesday, March 29th from approximately 8:30am – 6pm and will be available for in-person voting during that time, when not in class.
Any full- or part-time student in the Faculty of Theology is eligible to vote in this election.
Elections for the remainder of the BHTS Council positions will take place when classes resume in September.

BHTS Council Election for 2016-2017

The BHTS Council has set the date for the Society’s next Election to be on March 30, 2016.

Positions to be elected for the 2016-2017 academic year:

  • President

    • One of these to serve as student representative to the Faculty of Theology Committee
    • One of these to serve as Communications Officer/Secretary

Individuals may self-nominate. Those nominating another individual must demonstrate consent to the nomination.

Advance balloting will be available March 23-29 so receiving nominations by this date would be preferable. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor on Election Day.

Constitution Passed

The proposed constitution has passed by the required simple majority and will now become the governing Constitution of the Bishop Hallam Theological Society.

Thank you to the BHTS Council for their hard work and to the students in the Faculty of Theology for your attention to detail and commitment to the process.

BHTS Constitution

For the last 18 months, the BHTS Council (both last year’s council and this year’s council) have been working on updating and revising the BHTS Constitution.

After extensive work and consultation with both students and the Principal and Dean of Theology, the Council is ready to bring the draft Constitution to Theology students for review and comment.

Please review the Constitution document (attached below) and talk to any BHTS Council member to ask questions or share comments.

A vote on the ratification of the proposed document will be held on March 2nd, 2016. Both advance and in-person ballots will be available.
